Daniel Augusta Hunt

SUN RECORD BLUES

A. Hunt got to cut but one double-cut blues ditty;

that’s one, in a lifetime…for Sam Phillips’ Sun

Records, #183. Daniel Augusta Hunt was born

in Mumford, Alabama, May 23, 1929. D.A. had

been workin’ at Union Foundry Pipe, in Anniston,

Alabama. Give a listen: “Greyhound Blues” b/w

(that’s backed with) “Lonesome Ol Jail” were moaning, morose man and guitar. His voice was clear and

there was promise. In 1958, documentations indicate that  D.A. was arrested for a theft in Memphis. Four

years later his bod was without life; in Phoenix, AZ., May 1962, age 31.
