TOLLIE RECORDS… what’s the story?

Tollie appeared in February 1964 and with their

second issue sold millions of 45s…the Beatles

“Twist and Shout” b/w “There’s a Place.” Before

the mere year and a month or so was kaput millions

more of the Beatles’ Love Me Do” b/w “PS I love You.

” And forget not there was several repackaging’s of

what Beatles tunes were available to them. In the form of 33 1/3 RPM albums. 48 singles in all we’re

issued; all in 14 months.

   

How could this label blow it?

   

In addition to the Beatles they had recording for them: Barrett Strong (“Money” fame), Terry Black, The

Daylighters, Joey Paige (regular on Shindig), Twinkle, Jimmy Velvet , the Ragamuffins (soon-to-be the

Music Machine), Rick & the Keens, the Dowlands, the Sensations (noted for “Let Me In”), Billy Joel

Royal, Kal Davis & the Exceptions, the Big Three, and Jimmy Cross.
