Eire Apparent

They were from Northern Ireland; Eire Apparent

(formerly The People), that is. Jimi Hendrix per-

formed on their lone album. Jimi produced it, Sun

Rise; present and “encouraging” were Noel Redding

and Soft machine’s Robert Wyatt. Give a listen: Their

“Mr. Guy Fawkes” was with Hendrix sonic feel,though

scary, weird… It’s a tale of Mr Fawkes’ deep love that

keeps him warm, as London Bridge deteriorates …or does it? He’s got this “love” to keep himwarm and he

keeps her in a box…

 

They don’t make ‘em like this no more. The fluctuating and all-to-brief band—Eric Chris Stevens, Ernest

Harold Graham, Michael Charles Cox, William David Lutton; primarily—toured and opened for Hendrix

and the Animals and fragmented permanently within 20 months. Individual members dashed off to other

groupings; noteably, Wings, Help Yourself, Spooky Tooth, T-Rex, the Pretty Things…
